Throughout the day you move without being aware of your movements. You focus on what to do and not on HOW to do it. The subject of the Method Feldenkrais is HOW we move. By moving attentively and very slowly, you are able to discover how to make a movement easier and more efficiently. A movement is not always the same, it is being rediscovered, changed and improved so that you can learn how to move and act in every situation according to your needs, your wishes or plans.
As a human our capabilities can be increased at every age. This method focuses on awakening the body to be ready for movements. It is not about how to correct your posture, but discovering how any desired motion can done more easily, and done without any complaints. Habit patterns that are usually acquired from childhood are then given up and new patterns are being introduced. Your nervous system will store the new movement patterns and that will be the beginning of a change. Small adjustments can lead to major changes, that’s why I call the method “Awareness in motion”. We are widening your horizon through changing your view on motion and the way you will look at yourself.
